Doctor of philosophy in political sciences, associate professor Sayavush Kamran oglu Gasimov was appointed to the post of BAAU rector by the decision of the Founders' Council of Baku Eurasian University dated 30.09.2024. Sayavush Gasimov worked as vice-rector for international relations of BAAU until his new appointment.

S. Gasimov studied at the history faculty of Baku State University in 2001-2005 at the bachelor's degree, and in 2005-2007 at the master's level, and graduated from both levels with honors.

In 2008-2011, he studied at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the specialty "Political institutions and systems" and continued his education at the International Hellenic University of Greece in 2011-2012 under the "Erasmus Mundus" program of the European Union. In 2017, he defended his Ph.D. dissertation in political sciences on the topic "Geopolitical factor in the system of national interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and received the Ph.D. in political sciences degree in 2017. He is the author of more than 30 scientific articles. He spoke at a number of international scientific conferences. He compiled the curricula of the subjects "Modern Problems of Geopolitics", "Theory of Public Administration" and "Political Science" taught at Baku Eurasia University.

He knows English and Russian.

He started his career in 2007 as a teacher at the Department of International Relations of the Baku Eurasian University. He worked as a specialist of BAAU's International Relations Department, head of the department, scientific secretary of the University, deputy head of the department and deputy dean. From 2015 until his new appointment, he held the position of vice-rector for international relations of the university.

Since 2014, he is the co-founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Innovation and Development Support Public Association registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He is the author of 12 projects financed by the Azerbaijan Science Foundation, the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and international organizations.

By the order of the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the badge "Advanced Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
