A lecture on the topic of 'Ecology and Children's Literature' was held at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU)

A lecture on the topic of 'Ecology and Children's Literature' was organized by the Department of Azerbaijani and World Literature at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU). The event, held in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was attended by academic and administrative staff, as well as students from the Faculty of Philology.
Professor Elmira Mammadova-Kekech, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani and World Literature, delivered an opening address in which she emphasized that the primary aim of the event was to foster environmental awareness among young people and to highlight the significance of incorporating ecological themes into children's literature in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
Following the opening address, Senior Lecturer Gunel Shikhaliyeva of the department delivered a presentation. In her presentation, it was emphasized that the works of Elchin Kuzucu, a prominent children's author from Turkey, are aimed at fostering ecological awareness among young readers.
Particular attention was given to the author's notable works such as Ocean Adventure, Mechanical Trees, and Ecological Diamond Protectors, which convey strong messages about environmental protection and the importance of caring for nature. It was also highlighted that the protagonists in Kuzucu’s stories utilize scientific and technological innovations to safeguard the environment, while simultaneously promoting core values such as friendship, hard work, and humanity.
G. Shikhaliyeva emphasized that E. Kuzucu's stories effectively integrate ecological themes with technological development, thereby conveying to children the importance of environmental protection and the collective responsibility to ensure a livable future. She further highlighted that in the work Biotechnological Diary of Discovery in the Dark, particular emphasis is placed on themes of friendship and collaboration among young people.
Following the presentation, participants engaged in a question-and-answer session, which facilitated an interactive exchange of ideas.
It is worth noting that the lecture was organized in line with the university’s commitment to supporting social responsibility initiatives and promoting the principles of sustainable development
