The first meeting of the committee on strategic development was held within the framework of the Erasmus+ project called "Establishment of the Conference of Rectors in Azerbaijan" (ECAR). Baku Eurasian University was represented at the meeting by the dean of the "Regional Studies and Economics" faculty Mütallim Rahimov.

The event saw discussions on strategic development issues, functions of the committee, requirements for candidacy for the chairmanship of the committee, rules for selecting the board and chairman were discussed. 

During the meeting, 2 people were nominated for the position of chairman of the board. Araz Aslanli, vice-rector for Education and Innovation of the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was elected the chairman of the board with 85.7% of votes. 

It should also be noted that the activities of the Azerbaijan Rectors' Conference to be established within the framework of the ECAR project include 5 committees - Internationalization, Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, Scientific Affairs, Strategic Development, and Students and Graduates affairs.
