International Mother Language Day was celebrated on February 21 at Baku Eurasia University
On February 21, 2024, an event called "Our language and literature are our spiritual wealth" was held on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day organized by the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkish Languages of the Faculty of Philology of the Baku Eurasian University. At the event, the head of the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkish Languages, Ph.D., Assoc. Zamina Rustambayli, Ph.D., prof. Adalat Tahirzade, Ph.D., B/M Ilhama Shikhiyeva, Head of the Department of Azerbaijan and World Literature, Ph.D., prof. Elmira Mammadova-Kekech, professors and teachers of both departments and university students participated.
At the event, which began with the singing of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the commemoration of our martyrs with a minute of silence, Ilhama Shikhiyeva, Ph.D. He spoke about the unparalleled services he provided. Later, the university's professor Adalat Tahirzade gave a wide report about our language, talked about the importance of our first mother tongue textbooks created in 1920-40s, and showed the original copies of the textbooks of that period kept in his library. In the course of the event, a video clip about our mother tongue was shown, students recited interesting poems to each other dedicated to the Azerbaijani language. At the end of the event, university students performed a part of Jalil Mammadguluzade's "My Mother's Book" on stage. The event ended with great impressions.
