Ajdar Yunus delivered a lecture on "Lectures from the 270-year history of Shusha".

Within the framework of the "Year of Shusha" events at Baku Eurasian University, researcher Ajdar Yunus delivered a lecture on "Lectures from the 270-year history of Shusha".

The speaker highlighted the significance of the city of Shusha in the political history of Karabakh, the role of sources in the study of its history as an administrative and political center, and the study of historical and political monuments.

During the speech, the scientist gave information about Shusha fortress being the capital of Karabakh Khanate of Azerbaijan for many years: Shusha fortress was built in 1750-1751. According to historical sources, the construction of the fortress on a high, steep mountain began in 1750 and was completed in 1756-1757. Karabakh Khan Panah Ali Khan declared Shusha the capital and fortified it, turning it into a fortress-city. The city was named "Panahabad" in honor of Panah Ali Khan, and later "Shusha Castle" and "Shusha".

In his report, Ajdar Yunus also spoke about the participation of the representatives of Shusha in the international exhibition opened in Vienna in 1873, and how the exhibited exhibits aroused interest among foreigners.

Ajdar Yunus said in his speech that on May 8, 1992, the entire upper Karabakh was occupied by the Armenian army by capturing the city of Shusha, the ancient musical and cultural center of Azerbaijan. As a result, Shusha region, which has an area of 289 square kilometers, a population of 24 thousand people, 1 city and 30 villages, was occupied by the Armenian armed forces. 195 people were martyred, 165 people were wounded, and 58 people were missing in the battles for Shusha.

At the end of his speech, Ajdar Yunus talked about the Victory War of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continued the political course of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
