The subsequent online seminar on "Academic Writing & Research Development" was organized by the Economic Research Center (ERC) of Baku Eurasian University (BAAU). Held via the Zoom platform, the seminar was attended by the university's academic and administrative staff, as well as students and graduate students.
At the opening of the seminar, BAAU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Sevda Rzayeva, highlighted the importance of the event and emphasized that such seminars significantly contribute to the development of participants' academic skills. She noted that preparing modern scientific research in accordance with international standards should be a priority for every researcher and scholar. Dr. Rzayeva also discussed the university's ongoing efforts in the areas of international cooperation and scientific advancement. The floor was then handed over to Cem Işıg, Head of the BAAU Center for Economic Research.
Cem Işıg addressed key issues such as the development of an academic writing culture, proper selection of sources, and adherence to reference guidelines in the process of writing scientific articles. He emphasized the importance of publishing in high-impact journals and increasing the citation of these articles. Mr. Işıg provided practical recommendations on planning and structuring research, as well as effectively presenting results. He particularly highlighted the need to focus on critical aspects, such as the correct selection of sources, presenting references according to international standards, utilizing artificial intelligence tools, and mitigating plagiarism risks when preparing articles and theses. Additionally, he shared insights into the expectations of editors and reviewers when submitting articles to high-impact journals, including the criteria for acceptance and rejection.
The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, addressing participants' questions of interest and engaging in discussions on the topic.
It is worth noting that, in line with the activities of the Economic Research Center, seminars and masterclasses will continue as part of an ongoing series.
