On November 28, a presentation of the "VeloLife" club, operating under the Student Youth Organization (SYO) of Baku Eurasian University (BAAU), was held. The event was attended by Agil Guliyev, Member Affairs Manager of the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations Union (ASYUU), BAAU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Sevda Rzayeva, and students from the university. The presentation, which took place in the university's conference hall, commenced with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In her opening speech, Associate Professor Rzayeva highlighted the primary objective of the "VeloLife" club, which is to promote a healthy lifestyle among students while fostering greater environmental awareness. She emphasized that cycling not only benefits individuals' physical health but also plays a significant role in environmental conservation. The Vice-Rector further noted that BAAU has already taken significant steps towards promoting the health of its youth, underscoring that this initiative aligns with the core objectives of the COP29 event hosted by Azerbaijan.
In his speech, A. Guliyev provided an overview of the projects initiated by the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations Union (ASYOU) in this domain. He highlighted that the "VeloLife" club is one of ten such clubs established across the country, with the primary objective of encouraging young people to engage in sports and embrace a healthy lifestyle. Discussing the significance of various initiatives in this area, Guliyev emphasized that collaborative efforts are also being undertaken with the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation.
At the conclusion of the event, Sherif Khalilov, the chairman of the university's "VeloLife" club, invited students to join the club and take full advantage of the opportunities it offers.
It is worth noting that the activities of the "VeloLife" club are closely aligned with one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 3: “Good Health and Well-being”. The club is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle while fostering both physical and environmental responsibility among students. Through its initiatives, students will gain a deeper understanding of the positive impact of cycling on personal health and environmental sustainability.
