Professor Gulzar Ibrahimova, vice-rector for scientific affairs of the university, who opened the event, said that the genocide of the 20th century was the massacre of the century by the Armenian Dashnaks against our people on March 31, 1918.
According to official sources, as a result of this genocide, about 12 thousand Azerbaijanis were mercilessly killed and tens of thousands of people went missing.
Speaking later, Irada Muradova, deputy head of the Executive Power of Narimanov region, spoke about the concealment of the true essence of these truths during the Soviet era. She said that only during the period of independence, National Leader Heydar Aliyev declared March 31 as "Azerbaijani Genocide Day" and after taking relevant orders and measures, the genocide was given a legal and political assessment.
