On October 25, an event was held by the Support for Innovations and Development Public Union in cooperation with Baku Eurasian University and with the support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, within the framework of the project "Conducting research for the development of innovative education at universities" in line with the UN's "Quality education" sustainable development goal.

Sayavush Gasimov, the chairman of the Public Union, who opened the event with an opening speech, stated that the main goal of the project is to investigate the problems in the field of higher education in Azerbaijan, to study the problems that arise in the training of young personnel, to identify the factors that cause universities not to be included in international rankings, and to develop proposals aimed at eliminating them. For this purpose, S. Gasimov pointed out that it is important to bring some issues to the center of attention so he called for the improvement of textbooks and their adaptation to modern times, stricter control of the process of selection of specialties in higher education institutions, especially the replacement of specialties that do not coincide with the demand of the labor market, improvement of the Bologna system, improving the quality of teachers’ activities by stimulating mechanisms and an efficient monitoring system, etc.

The expert of the project, Assoc.Prof Ulviyya Huseynova (Philology), stressed that the development of the educational sphere leads to the progress of societies and the increase of the number of successes in all fields in the country. Because the educational factor has the power to influence every individual, and its positive results can be seen in all stages of development of a civilized society. U. Huseynova further characterized quality education and listed its advantages.

Education expert Vusal Karimli touched upon the current problems in the higher education system in his speech. He specified that in order to further raise the level of the modern education system, it is important to create educational institutions equipped with modern technical means along with infrastructure. At the same time, strong scientific and pedagogical personnel should be formed.

Higher education management researcher Esmira Kazimova also mentioned in her speech the need to create innovation-education activity centers in the base of higher education institutions of our Republic. Assessing the current situation, E. Kazimova noted that higher schools have successfully adapted educational services to the requirements of the free market, and the process of commercialization of professional education is already underway, but the sphere of commercialization of scientific knowledge is developing poorly. It is important to take more steps in this direction
