History and literary examples of Iraqi Turks discussed at BAAU

In order to learn more about the history, folklore, written literature, and dialect features of the Iraqi Turks under the organization of the "Azerbaijani and world literature" department of Baku Eurasian University, a meeting was held with honored scientist, Ph.D., prof. Gazanfar Pashayev and the chairman of the Iraqi Turkmen Journalists Association, Kirkuk Cultural Association, editor-in-chief of "Kirkuk" newspaper, researcher and poet Shamseddin Kuzachi. Head of the "Azerbaijani and world literature" department, phil.E.D., prof. Elmira Mammadova-Kekech opened the event. Professor Gazanfar Pashayev noted that he had been interested in the literature of Iraqi Turks since student years, and while working as a translator, he collected examples of their folklore and started research. Shamseddin Kuzachi, the author and compiler of seventy-three books in different languages, who considers Odlar yurdu Azerbaijan as his second homeland, began his speech with the poem "I have brought you greetings". Giving information about the work done by Azerbaijani intellectuals and youth to get to know Iraqi Turks better, he emphasized that Iraqi Turks migrated from Azerbaijan over time and this fact is reflected in literary texts.
