An event themed "Global Tourism Resilience," dedicated to Global Tourism Resilience Day on February 17, was organized by the Department of Business and Management at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU). The event was attended by Ruslan Guliyev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Health and Thermal Tourism Support Association (AHTTSA), Murad Rizvanga, a lecturer at Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University (ATMU), as well as BAAU's academic and administrative staff and students.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, BAAU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Sevda Rzayeva, highlighted the global significance of sustainable tourism in the contemporary era. She emphasized the importance of research and experiments conducted in this field, stressing the need to consider the ecological, social, and economic dimensions of sustainable tourism. Additionally, she underscored the importance of expanding the university's scientific activities in this area.
Next, Assoc. Prof. Matanat Gurbanova, Head of the Department of Business and Management, addressed the purpose of the event, the development prospects of sustainable tourism, and the role of students in this field. She emphasized that sustainable tourism is crucial not only for its economic profitability but also for preserving cultural heritage and maintaining ecological balance.
Subsequently, AHTTSA Chairman R. Guliyev and ATMU lecturer M. Rizvanga provided insights in their speeches on the application of sustainable tourism in international practice, the challenges faced in this field, and potential solutions. They also exchanged views on the role of public-private sector cooperation in tourism development and discussed the essence of responsible tourism.
As part of the event, students specializing in "Organization of Tourism Business" delivered presentations, and a video clip was shown. The event included a Q&A session, which was met with great interest by the participants.
It is worth noting that BAAU places significant emphasis on promoting the Sustainable Development Goals among its students, and the organization of educational events in this area remains a key priority.
