On October 21, Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) organized an educational seminar on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Conference of the Parties (COP), focusing on the upcoming COP29 conference. The seminar attracted a number of faculty members and students from the university’s Philology and Translation departments.
The seminar began with a report by Parviz Gurbanov, associate professor at the Department of Economics and Management, who discussed the impact of global climate change on sustainable human development. He highlighted key issues related to COP29, including the effects of climate change, the main groups of sustainable development goals, and the types of limitations on inclusive development opportunities.
Aydan Aslanova, a faculty member at the same department, continued with a presentation on the functions of sustainable development, the actions taken by various countries in accordance with the concept of sustainable development, and the importance of hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan. She also elaborated on the integration of Sustainable Development Goals into education and the vital messages Azerbaijan has conveyed through its declaration of 2024 as the “Solidarity Year for a Green World.”
After the presentations, students raised questions which were answered, and a discussion followed. At the end of the seminar, BAAU’s Vice Rector for International Relations, Dos. Sevda Rzayeva, thanked the speakers for their valuable contributions.
