An event titled "Fuzuli's Poetic Language" was held at BAAU

An artistic event titled "The Poetic Language of Muhammad Fuzuli" was held at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU), organized by the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkic Languages. The event was organized in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated January 25, 2024, "On the Celebration of the 530th Anniversary of the Great Azerbaijani Poet Muhammad Fuzuli." The event was attended by the staff members and students of the Faculty of Philology at the university.
The event commenced with a minute of silence in honor of our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, followed by the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The opening speech was delivered by Associate Professor, Dr. Zamina Rustambeyli, Head of the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkic Languages at BAAU; Natella Guliyeva, Head of the Department of Organization of Education; and Ilhama Shikhiyeva, Senior Lecturer and Doctor of Philosophy.
At the event, insightful perspectives were shared regarding the preference of the great Fuzuli, one of the foremost figures in Azerbaijani classical literature, to write and create in his native language. Discussions also highlighted his significant role in the development of the Azerbaijani literary language with ancient roots, as well as his creativity, which reflects both Azerbaijani and Eastern cultural influences.
The role of Fuzuli's poetry in preserving and promoting our national values was discussed. It was emphasized that Fuzuli's works are of great significance not only to the Azerbaijani people but to all of humanity. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the uniqueness of his language and style serves as a vehicle for conveying these universal values.
In the artistic part of the event, students performed selections from Fuzuli's works, including ghazals such as "O God, make me acquainted with the misfortunes of love," "Do not let the sorrow of love fade," "The Word," and "Loyalty to every man, from whom I have endured suffering" etc. Following the performances, students delivered presentations on the topics of "Poetic Figures in Fuzuli's Language," "Folk Idioms in Fuzuli's Language," and "Archaisms in Fuzuli's Language."
At the end of the event, those who contributed to the creation of the artistic program were recognized with awards, and commemorative photos were taken.
